America, rejoice! The complete season two DVD boxset reaches Region 1 shores on September 16th, with an RRP of around $79.98 - giving North American Woodies another chance to see the likes of Captain John Hart, man-on-man Janto, Martha Jones, more Janto, death/destruction, and oh so more Janto loving. And then some.
On the same day Torchwood: Season One is released on the Blu-Ray format, offering Region 1 fans the chance to relive the first year in glorious high-definition (1080i). The retail price for that set is $99.98.
The sets are available to pre-order via Amazon.com here.
In other news, Torchwood won two awards last Sunday evening - thanks to Logo (the channel "geared toward gay, lesbian and transgendered persons"). The show picked up the award for "Best Gay Kiss of 2007" (the Jack/Ianto smooch), and also the audience award for "Best Show You're Now Watching" (though apparently it tied with something called 'The Sarah Silveman Show'). Well done to Torchwood and it's pleasing unprejudiced views on sexuality.
Finally...
Look away now if you don't want to be spoiled regarding certain plot elements of Doctor Who's fourth season finale. Erm... you still here? Last chance; shoo! Right, okay. I presume everybody still reading actually wants to be spoiled? I won't judge... Ah, to Hell with that, didn't you learn anything from Moffat's "Silence in the Library"? Tut tut.
Here, just for you, spoilers for episode twelve - "The Stolen Earth", which stars David Tennant and Catherine Tate. It also, Torchwood fans, guest stars the like of John Barrowman, Freema Agyeman and Captain Jack's one time fellow companion, Rose Tyler - aka Miss Billie of Piper!
"The Sarah Jane Adventures" star Elisabeth Sladen also features.
Here's the BBC Press Office's synopsis:
"Earth's greatest heroes assemble in a time of dire need. But can the Doctor's secret army defeat the might of the new Dalek Empire? With battles on the streets and in the skies, the Doctor and Donna must brave the Shadow Proclamation to find out the truth. However, a fearsome old enemy waits in the shadows..."
One question remains: with so many high profile guest stars, how on this (stolen) Earth are they gonna fit all their names in the opening credits..?

I might suggest a smaller font size...
But seriously, we should get Sarah Silverman exported over to your side of the pond... She is a hysterical comidienne also originally from New Hampshire. (as am I, I should add...) Ms. Silverman as of late shocked America on our late night "Jimmy Kimmel Show" by singing a catchy number called, "I'm f***ing Matt Damon" which the aforementioned Matt Damon also sang... I might suggest the follwing link to give you an idea... However I will say, I've had the dang song stuck in my head for weeks, why couldn't I come up with mind control like that?!

It is worth the chuckle...

What is with the two spellings of Ianto? Shouldn't the standard be the BBC version (Ianto)?
There is only one spelling of the character's name, Ianto.
*Janto* refers to the pairing of Jack and Ianto.

Can I please ask a question about Dr Who? Will someone please let me know why everytime we see an episode with a Dalek, it's always supposed to be the last Dalek left out of it's race/planet? But it isn't really cos the very next series produces yet another Dalek and so on....? And now, so near the end of this series, here they come again!!
Huh huh? Well....?? And yes I know this is a TW site but there's sod all happening there now... except that they're all in next weeks' DW...
