It's a Date! (US)

Well, by internet standards, this is old news, but it is still worth saying. Thanks to our readers who also posted this information.

BBC America has announced their air date for Children of Earth!

"The highly anticipated return of Torchwood: Children of Earth will kick off the first of BBC AMERICA's HD offerings. Told over five consecutive nights starting July 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, the series re-joins Captain Jack (John Barrowman), Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) and Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) as they are still coming to terms with the death of two of their closest friends. Yet despite their pain, they know they have a job to do. This time they are faced with their fiercest threat to date - one which throws the future of Torchwood and the entire human race spiralling into danger. Battling against the odds. do they stand a chance of saving mankind?"

Then on July 28th, Children of Earth (on DVD and Blu-Ray) as well as Torchwood series two on Blu-Ray will be released in the US.

Some fans may be thrilled or disappointed to hear that these dates overlap into San Diego Comic Con (July 23-26), a convention which has hosted BBC America and Torchwood-themed panels for the past two years. Any American Torchwood fans that are attending will have to figure out how to squeeze watching the episodes into their plans (like me). As of now, no information has been released regarding a Torchwood presence at this coming Comic Con. What is known is that BBC has an official booth in the convention's dealers' hall. Hopefully they'll have something special planned for the fans.

Finally, I'm curious to hear from you! Children of Earth is right around the corner and- with a lot of the audience- the remaining Torchwood team members will be mourning the loss of Toshiko and Owen. What were your favorite Tosh and/or Owen moments? What will you miss about them in series three?

When does Britain get the official word? Because, seeing as it's a British show and all, you'd think it'd only be fair that we get the dates first - and if it's because they're hiding it from ITV...sorry guys, but letting BBCA advertise doesn't help do that, does it?

Why. Oh why. Are they putting it on a) at the beginning of the summer holiday when loads of people are on holiday (therefore, lower viewing figures, therefore, no series 4)

and b) putting it on when the San Diego convention is on? Are they trying to make themselves seem stupid?

I could do this job better.

Hmmmm, i wonder whether us brits will end up watching it at the same time as our american cousins? :P But I agree, July is an awkward time in general, and they better not screw up chances of a series 4 just because of having a stupid air date!!!
And to answer Salina's question, I'm really going to miss Owens snarky comments, he always stopped a scene being too dull or boring, and would always kick start the teams dynamics; now all we've got is jack and gwen moments (BLAH!) and Jack and ianto moments (yay!) but aside from that.... will be interesting to see whether they show the team feeling the strain of their being just 3 of them, or whether they just become super humans, doctor who saving the day in about 3 seconds style. Looking forward to it :D xxx

I already know I've got to find other ways to watch as the hotel I am staying in does not carry BBCA.

And I do think it was a really dumb idea to launch a tv show when a good chunk of people who would watch Torchwood won't be able to watch it.

Guess BBCA really isn't wanting good ratings this time around.

Eve Myles has said that the team dynamic is really good this year, because they've had to up their game and become really closeknit as the result of their only being three of them. Apparently, they don't need Jack telling them what to do anymore, they just go and do it and he trusts them with that. It looks really good.

I'll miss Tosh and her amazing wonderful geniusness...and the way that she didn't have a bad bone in her body. I always empathised with her character, having felt in her position (oh let's ignore the clever one) before.

I'll also miss Owen's snarkiness. I'll definitely miss the oppurtunity to see exacty where the Tosh/Owen relationship could have gone, given the time.

I've been re-watching series 2 which I downloaded from iTunes last year. That season was amazing.

Still I'm going to miss Owen and Tosh. My favorite episodes came from those characters. Can't wait till July 20th.

My thought is that Toshiko and Owen will return to the series (time travel), or the Doctor will encounter them on his travels.
