Welcome, BBC Two!

Tonight's the big night for any Torchwood viewer without cable or digital (or a sneaky PC...). Yep, three days after its BBC Three debut - Torchwood's arriving on BBC Two!

WELCOME TO TORCHWOOD BBC TWO STYLE!

Tonight sees a double bill of episodes. Whereas "Everything Changes" introduces audiences to team Torchwood, the follow-up episode "Day One" does well to explore the more adult themes of the series.

Torchwood.tv has resisted the urge to post any major spoilers about the episodes online; until BBC 2 viewers have had a chance to view the episodes at last. But be warned - after tonight's episodes we'll be examining the episodes, and their plot twists, in close detail.

We'll examine Captain Jack's secrets, and review "Day One" too.

I hope you'll be along for the ride - and enjoy tonight's shows!

I just noticed this an hour or so ago. I hated not having Three (in Belgium), but now I am Oh So Excited And Happy! Ten minutes to go.

WOW! I was away in the Lake District this weekend so I have only just seen the first two episodes!

They are amazing :-) The first one was slightly boring, I found, butI really got into the second one! :-D

Considering they said the links to Doctor Who would be kept to a minimum, I'm surprised how many times they've referenced it already! I just love this series, BBC keep putting it on Two PLEASE! Wonder what the BBC2 Viewing figures where?

Just watched the first two episodes and I'm extremely disappointed.

Lets leave aside the cringing acting, especially from the atrociously miscast Eve Myles, the extremely feeble plots and the desperate necessity so suspend all credulity just to accept proferred scenarios. No, lets look at Captain Jack's operation down in Cardiff.

If there was to be any kind of audit Captain Jack would be collecting his P45 without a hope of a industrial tribunal. In the first episode all his staff members are busy helping themselves to alien artefacts and one of them turns out to a mass murderer. Not only that by lucky poor hopeless Gwen didn't use a pen and paper when she got home.

In the second episode a gaseous alien is locked up in a room with a perspex window full of holes. Two, yes, two members of Jack's staff end up inside the cage trying to shag it and it manages to escape this ultra secret, highly secure establishment by.. using a swipe card and a hopeful expression. Oh did I forget that poor hopeless Gwen nearly let it escape from the house after she released it from the "ship".

I couldn't watch any more, I really couldn't. As a huge Dr Who fan I had high hopes, even prepared to consider the first espisode was just teething trouble but dear God - ITS RUBBISH! Its beyond bad. Truly, truly abysmally dross.

And let me just say that whoever was in charge of casting should never be employed again. I've seen worse performances than Eve Myles - just none come to mind.

What a let down.

I am soooooo sorry you hated it, Anonymous!
(Why are negative comments almost always written by "Anonymous"??)

I really cannot understand how it is that you keep Doctor Who in such hight regard but utterly hated Torchwood.

Of course I do not agree with you, not on a single derogatory point!

So far I've seen it three times and each time I discover something I had not noticed before, and each time I find the story richer, more exciting.

Yes the hand is the Doctor's. They played the Doctor's music when Jack was handling the hand (pardon the pun), which should leave us in no doubt about that.

And again: I'm so sorry you lack so much imagination, Anonymous, but you must remember = this is science fiction entertainment and not Shakespeare or Samuel Beckett and it does not pretend to be so.

Is BBC not going to show the De-Classified on BBC2???
This would deprive all thjose people who cannot receive BBC3.

I agree with you sulamite. Anonymous if you're looking for someone to blame for the casting that would be russle t davies. And BTW Eve Myles (Gwen) has appeared before in Doctor Who; no one is appologising for the fact that it's different to Who, I think we just have to accept that fact and enjoy it for what it is- there is still satire in there, it's just not as in your face as Who needs to be in order to get it across to a younger audience.

Also just saw it. Also from Belgium (heck, I thought I was the only weirdo in Belgium watching it!) I'm not sure how I feel about it entirely, but I think it will grow on me - I like Jack, in any case. I always liked Russel T. Davies' writing, ever since Century Falls (yes, I'm THAT much of a geek.) He writes interpersonal relationships very well, imho. Ianto looks interesting, too. The rest of the crew I'm undecided on. Pity they killed off Suzie - I really like Indira Varma, especially her performance in Rome.
I do kind of hope they won't go "Mulder and Scully" too much. But it's been a while since there has been a Sci-fi I looked forward to seeing, and now I have something new to squee about!

I loved it... I thought it was funny, smart, perfect for the timelso. Eve is amazingly naturalistic (in a Piperesque fashion), and there were some amazing set pieces (the elevator, the hub, the great music, amazing makeup, better than Who spec FX... and John Barrowman putting in a performace that was uber charming... without being uber cheesy. May eclipse my views of current Who... particularly if Freema lets the side sown in Billie's wake).

Disgusting moments in Torchwood....
I was dissapointed abot the gayish and lesbian moments in this movie.
Please put more technology and actions and maybe you can succed. The movie can't be compare with Doctor Who. I like sci-fi movies and I don't want to be forsed to hear ar watch disgusting lesbian kiss and etc. Doesn't make sense for sci-fi....

How does having two lesbians or gays kiss make any less sense than a guy and a girl? I'm stait but it doesn't worry me...

Anynymous : genre mix!lol. Just go with the flow..

Total rubbish - bad acting, a poor script and a great disappointment, I was really looking forward to this. It's hard to find anything right with it - the Torchwood staff are all far to stupid and inept to be doing anything remotely palusible, the characters are all poorly scripted and the actual storylines are awful. What a shame!

Ok I send the post beginning: "Just watched the first two episodes and I'm extremely disappointed." and the reason I posted anon was I couldn't be bothered creating an account, the name is Steve btw, - just wanted to let of steam about a show I feel is a big letdown, certainly fails to live up to the hype and is quick frankly inept in every regard.

I fully understand why some will want to like this, its a bit herectical not to considering the show's origins but please, unless this is a tongue-in-cheek kind of comedy or ultimate piss-take then it sucks. In years to come it will feature in all those 100 Worst TV Shows alongside Eldorado and Crossroads if it doesn't improve.

As has been said the behaviour of the characters is laughable, no one could be that bungling and expect to be employed, the plots are feeble and the acting woeful. I hate to pick on poor Ms Myles but seriously, two-dimensional doesn't cover it. Rarely have I seen a more wooden performance outside of grade C US sitcoms.

The lesbian scene was a joke. Anyone outraged or excited by this needs to get out more. It was as ludicrous as the rest of the episode.

I hope it improves but at the moment it makes Blakes 7 look like Star Wars.

Couldn't agree more Steve - by the way my name's John and I also posted anonymous as I don't want an account either, no other reason. I rarely feel the need to comment on forums, it's just that last nights showing was such a huge disapppintment that I felt inclined to post something.

And yes I can turn it off - and yes I will not watch any more, however it was the first time I'd seen it so I needed to watch at least this to make a judgement. So I'm not boring anyone and I'm certainly not whinging, nust commenting - and if you can't accept criticism of something you obviously enjoyed Zagreus - then that's not my fault, you need to relax a little, maybe you feel you are defending the indefensible? Freedom of speech and opinion is actually to be encouraged in my book.

I don't have a problem with you liking the show, I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I thought it was utter tosh and wont bother watching any more. If we all had the same views life would be a boring place wouldn't it? So please just accept your views are not the only ones out there.

Have a nice day.

I think it was great.

Sure, it is no Doctor Who (that last season was practically impossible to top), but for anyone remotely interested in sci-fi, it sure beats a lot of the competition out there.

Perhaps it needs a little bit of settling. It still feels strange to be watching Captain Jack all the time and the new faces still need to become familiar.

Also, Cardiff is a weird setting for someone who knows next to nothing about it. We're all so used to shows set in US cities or London, that this requires some effort (esp. the accents, lol).

But I think it all looks terrific and I'm anxious to see what will come.
