Going To The Land Down Under

Last month, torchwood.tv reported that Australia wouldn't be broadcasting Torchwood any time soon. Well, what a difference a month makes. According to a report in the Australian Associated Press, Network Ten have purchased Torchwood and committed to series two of the spin-off also.

For Australian fans everywhere, this is universally good news - no doubt it's time to break out the bubbly and celebrate. The wonders of Torchwood (and its fantastic cast) are about to come you're way; and you're in for a real treat.

More news on transmission details and the like closer to the broadcast date.

well blessing or not channel ten will butcher the hell out of it. Change it's timeslots constantly, possbily moving it to like 11:30pm after the first few eps. Then stop showing the season midway only to have it reappear during non-ratings season in the summer months.

add to that annoying VERY LARGE scrolling ads through it promoting crap like the biggest loser and big brother.

they also have to cut it to insert ad breaks.

so in essence, as much as i do like the idea that mainstream aussie audiences will have access to TW, it's going to be the FTA bastardised version. And even then, we dunno if ten is going to censor any of the material.

Free to air tv in the land down under pretty much sucks.

I am glad we in Australia will be getting it. But as said above, it will be flooded with add breaks which can't be good.

I wonder if the fact that Channel Ten is Canadian owned had anything to do with them getting the rights to TORCHWOOD!

Well I am thankful for small mercies. It is ABC'S loss and Channel 10s gain. A taste for it, might also mean the merchandise comes with it and I think the DVDs will be great!!!
