Before filming begins on Torchwood season two this coming Monday, there's a glitzy awards ceremony in Cardiff city centre for the Torchwood cast and crew to attend tomorrow. Yes sirree, it's time for the 2007 BAFTA Cymru Awards - with Torchwood nominated for 8 awards. The show goes head to head with parent series, Doctor Who - but who will come out on top? That's the question Karen Price of the Western Mail asks Elaine Penn on her online blog.
Here's her opinion on who will triumph in the "Best Series" category:
Elaine’s verdict: “It’s so hard to call. Doctor Who has obviously got a bit more history to it and it attracts the younger viewers too. Although Torchwood alienates the younger viewers, it started with a bang so I’m torn. This category’s judged purely on two episodes – the finale of both. As far as Doctor Who is concerned, that was the last episode with Billie and I just cried my eyes out so I would have to give the award to Doctor Who.”
Winner: Doctor Who
What do you think? Is Torchwood a serious threat for NuWho? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Any idea if the ceremony is going to get a TV coverage?
THE winner=torchwood
They won four. Not bad. Considering it's up against Dr Who.
Best director of photography: drama, best design and best actress.
Good article, but a shame that Elaine got the episodes confused in the music section.
