Coming soon, a new and improved box!

Another item has been added to the already jam-packed Torchwood January. The BBC America shop has posted details about a R1 Torchwood series one 7-disc DVD boxset for release on January 8th, 2008. Not too many specifics about extras, but we do know that many of the cast and crew have already recorded commentaries for all of the episodes.

There have been a few teasers shown on BBCA here and there but there is still no official BBC America Torchwood site. We are now just over a month away from the US premiere. The Torchwood panel at the San Diego comic con is later today and we should hear and see more marketing of series one on this side of the Atlantic soon.

I heard there's a UK release in November. Whether true or not remains to be seen.

No, see, they could have mentioned that at the beginning. When the BBC announced its plans for the vanilla/box set release sched. of Doctor Who and all those fans cried 'rip-off!' I didn't quite understand the criticism, because they were being so up-front about it that surely no-one would have bought the vanillas thinking that's all we were getting. But the TW volumes had extras, and the complete box was just a rumour, and... sigh. I'll just have to hock my volumes on Amazon before the prices drop due to an official box set announcement... I have no doubt it'll be worth it.
