So in my web searching, I stumbled across this gem… if you click here, you will be taken to the town of Vulcan, Alberta’s website... While being named after the Roman God, the town has literally embrased that it also is named after the home of Mr. Spock from Star Trek... So, I imagined the possibilities for Torchwood... As die-hard fans will know, Queen Victoria commissioned Torchwood in Scotland, so why not have a place in Scotland somewhere made up to be the real Torchwood House. Just a thought...

where did that come from?
Well, at this point, I would call that either an unsubstantiated rumour or an upcoming feature article in the Sun... But this is the first that I've heard of it, so I wouldn't say that it is true or untrue... I am considering the source however which is an anonymous poster... If this rumor has any truth to it at all, it is a little hard to swallow... We'll have to look for more official rumblings to see where the truth lies.
Oi, and what's with the CAPITAL LETTERS and DOUBLE-DOUBLE POSTING-POSTINGS?!
Hey there Tremas, I didn't hear anything about a French version of Torchwood in Quebec, although Doctor Who is shown on Z Télé, so my guess is they'd be the most likely to eventually show Torchwood. Their website is www.ztele.com you might have checked it out already but just in case...
Good thing they translated Doctor Who, it was the only way I could get my dad to watch it. And he loves it, obviously.
That's a hard one to call... CBC shows it in English, so it would make sense that they air it in Quebec, especially in that it is already translated for NRJ in France, but on the same token, the money they may get in royalties from Ztele may offset the lost ad revenue for Quebec... Either way, our Quebecoise friends are truly keeping to "ferme la bouche" on this matter...
Well in the spirit of unconfirmed rumors and the like, I will proffer this also unsubstantiated faux script... Let's see if anyone takes this for cannon... :)
Ianto: Bring out your dead! Bring out your dead! Bring out your dead!
Jack: Here's one
Ianto: Slide him in...
Owen: (feebly) I'm not dead!
Ianto: (suprised) What?
Jack: Nothing! Start sliding...
Owen: I'm not dead!
Ianto: Hey! He says he's not dead!
Jack: Yes he is.
Owen: I'm not!
Ianto: He isn't?
Jack: Well... he will be soon-- he's very ill...
Owen: I'm getting better!
Jack: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment.
Ianto: We can't put him in the crypt like that! It's against regulations!
Owen: I don't want to go in the crypt....
Jack: Oh, don't be such a baby.
Ianto: We can't do it....
Owen: I feel fine!
Jack: Well, do us a favor...
Ianto: I can't!
Jack: Can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won't be long...
Ianto: No, gotta get up to the hospital, they got nine weevil-bites today.
Owen: I think I'll go for a walk....
Jack: You're not fooling anyone, you know-- (to Ianto) Look, isn't there something you can do...?
(they both look around)
Owen: I feel happy! I feel happy!
(Ianto deals the Owen a swift blow to the head. Owen goes limp.)
Jack: (Sliding Owen onto the crypt) Ah. thanks very much.
It's a bit infuriating how long it took before we finally got DW and Torchwood on CBC. Heck, CBC is a co-producer on both shows. Not to mention the DVD prices here in Canada.
Concerning a French version for Quebec, I guess Z télé is waiting to see how popular the show will have been on CBC and how their own ratings are for Doctor Who. Not many people know about either show here, which is a shame of course. Truth be told, a lot of Quebeckers just wouldn't watch it in English, and not everyone gets Z télé.
Back when I lived in New Hampshire we used to get CBC Channel 8 out of Sherbrooke. (CHSK I think it was...) But honestly I watched it for the Hockey... (And some Cinema Soir in my teens...) As long as I had my closed-captioning on I would read what was going on pretty good! :)
Wow, That's a cool idea! I like it! :D
Regarding Torchwood on CBC... I've just found out that TW will not be seen in its regular time slot on Fridays at 9pm until January 4th (Combat). Then, the CBC will air Captain Jack Harkness and End of Days at a special time and date on Sunday, January 6th, at 8 pm. Just a heads up!
Great catch JJ. Thank You.
