Martha may try on the glove
The BBC announced today that Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones will not only have an important role in the next series of WHO she will appear in three episodes of Torchwood series 2. You can read the BBC press release here.

I'm not a huge fan of Freema Agyeman, so I'm not too thrilled that her character will crop up in Torchwood, but with Torchwood as it is, surely it means she'll be hooking up with and snogging Ianto, or maybe Gwen, or Captain Jack, or an alien, or a dead person, or a dead alien - who knows! I wonder if bookies will take bets?!
I didn't love Martha Jones as a character (or hate her for that matter); her lust for the Doctor seemed so forced in the beginning, and didn't feel real to me until "Muman Nature"/"The Family of Blood"; that's where I actually believed she loved him. I respect her more since she left the Doctor as it makes her a far less pathetic character in my book, and I'm fine with her coming back for Who next year now. I'm curious to see what her role on Torchwood will be.
Do you suppose she'll be in the final 3 episodes of season 2, the way Jack was in the final 3 episodes of this year's Who? I haven't been paying attention to the shooting schedule. I actually thought her friendship with Jack was very well played, so I suppose the Torchwood crossover will feel natural. And on the subject of crossovers; the more the better.
Now I just wonder where The Sarah Jane Adventures will fit in to all of this.

I'm not too keen on the character Martha so I'm a bit miffed about he being in Torchwood but I think I will be interesting to see how it turns out!
I also can't get my head around the Jack / Gwen thing coming up as hadn't Jack and ianto pretty much admitted to each other in the last episode that they really liked each other?

I am guessing its a more mid season appearance ... if my source (and its a tedious link ... so please dont take this too seriously) is correct, she is replacing a killed off Gwen...
She's only going to be in 3 episodes. I don't think she'll be replacing anyone.
i'm really pleased she's going to be in the next series of both TW and DW as I really liked her - far more than I liked Rose.
i reckon she will be in the later episodes of torchwood, simply because she said in the press release that she "couldn't wait to start filming Torchwood", and they usually start filming the later episodes later.
i hope she's not replacing anyone - especially not Gwen, as Gwen is my favourite character.
Oh, and Kurly, the who "no crossovers" philosophy went out the window a long time ago - Jack and Tosh in both torchwood and doctor who, Sarah Jane in DW and SJA.
maybe they will kick out gwen and replace her with martha!! woohoo!

Not at all pleased with this. Freema is a nice person but has no acting talent whatever.
Further - in my experience if a new and attractive women joins a science fiction show the publicity is focussed on them. I can see Freema being advertised ..... blah.
Also, if a companion of the Doctor is coming to Torchwood, there is no way we are keeping our adult Torchwood. It was always said that there would be no crossovers for this reason.

I can’t wait to see this storyline, especially as Jack had a much better chemistry with Martha than the Doctor. Freema is a great actress (better than Billie in my book) and will really spice things up at Torchwood but I can’t wait to see how she rejoins Dr Who. Hopefully by then her crash on the Doctor will be over – I think that storyline was a mistake as it makes Martha seem desperate to replace Rose when she is actually at her best when she’s being herself. It’s a shame though that she has been replaced so quickly. She had just finally stepped out of Rose’s shadow and I was looking forward to seeing how she developed.
i loved rose on doctor who, and nothing can replace her in my book, although i do love Freema as Martha Jones. I just wish that she wouldnt cross over into torchwood, although it will be good if she could shed some light about jack to the other members of the team
