Jack's Showdown

Torchwood's second series finale, "Exit Wounds", airs on Friday 4th April - and the BBC Press Office has released the following information. Look away now, as there's considerable spoilers!

"Captain John Hart returns to have his revenge on Torchwood. Taking Captain Jack prisoner, he sends him back in time for a long overdue reunion. Without their leader, Torchwood are faced with a city flooded with Weevils, on the brink of destruction. But who is Captain John really working for? Can anyone trust him? And how great a price must Torchwood pay to save the city?"

I've hear it off the grapevine that (highlight to reveal) the episode concludes the "Gray" storyline - Jack's younger brother shows up, and all hell breaks loose. Apparently not all the Torchwood team survive events, although who might be heading for the chopping board, I'm not saying!

Whilst we're on the subject of spoilers, some Doctor Who series four news - look away now if you don't want to be ruined!

Thursday evening/early Friday morning, John Barrowman was on the Doctor Who set, filming scenes for the two part series finale - which also features David Tennant (the Doctor), Billie Piper (Rose Tyler), Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler), Noel Clarke (Mickey Smith, plus writer of Torchwood episode "Combat"), Freema Agyeman ("Martha Jones"), Elisabeth Sladen ("Sarah Jane Smith"), Catherine Tate ("Donna Noble") and, of course, Daleks!

The scenes recorded saw the Doctor being exterminated by a Dalek; and Jack lead the injured Time Lord back to his TARDIS.

Doctor Who's fourth season kicks off in April.

Can I just say: "aaaaaaaaaaaaahh!"

Torchwood is fine as it is and I want no changes to it and I have decided that I might be too scared to watch the last ep in case of the potential changes...and I've been obssessed for the past year (which will become a matter of principal now - beatles are not better than torchwood)

i totally agree natla! i would hate to see just 1 member go nevermind more than 1 (which is what i've heard). and...who would replace them...

great news on doctor who by the way, thanks very much! :)

Well if the rumors about which team member(s) will not returning in series three are really true it will be a very sad day for Torchwood. Finger crossed I guess, but these leaks always tend be be correct, don't they. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

If these rumors are true, I will no longer scour to find ep's on the web to watch. I can't get them where I live. I will just get Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD and just pretend those are the only seasons made.
I'll still watch Dr. Who-until they screw that up. You know it is only a matter of time.

After watching A Day in the Death all I can say is bring on the changes! G*d that was worse than last week which was awful. I don't know if Owen is alive or dead or human and I've just realized I don't care. The only good thing about this episode is that Martha Jones left. What a waste of time her visit was! Freema, honey, hold out for better scripts.

TW is all over the map this year. If *continuity* was one of the changes that would be okay with me. It certainly would
be different!!

I don't mind characters dying; no one lives forever; even Jack, as we well know. People die. I look forward to seeing where the writers take us. :-0)

Random Shoes is no longer the worst TW episode....

TW is nothing without John B and Capt. Jack and tho my gay friends will rant about Janto, the best episodes (IMHO) have focused on Jack and Gwen, specifically getting her prepared for the 21st centurys changes. The rest of the team are space fillers with the exception of Ianto who they've allowed to grow.

if the spoilers I just read are true I am hoping that there will be no third series.

I don't see much point now. Not with everybody I liked best gone.

There will be a third season, that's already in the works with actors signed on. However, Chris Chibnall (head writer) is moving onto CSI: London and Julie Gardner is taking a bigger position at BBC. So already the dynamics have been altered and depending on whether newcomers are hired or promoted from within will determine the shape and tone of the show next year. If the decision is made
to have only one TW, l'll bet the dumbed down version wins out. You'll see DW 6 mos and then TW for 6 mos.

TW was better when it was dark and edgy.

Torchwood has been the Gwen show anyway, since the TPTB seem to love the character for some reason. I started to watch Torchwood for JB and I love the Jack/Ianto interaction (I'm a straight woman btw and that's where I see the chemistry, can't see any between Jack/Gwen but as has been said that's just my opinion). As long as JB is there I will watch, without him forget it!! Gwen and Martha...no thanks!!

The more I hear about the way that Torchwood is going the less I like it. Torchwood is best when edgy and adult, forget the child friendly version.

Word to the child friendly BBC. Given modern parents, once the children have seen the child friendly episodes, they will want to see Series 1 - and that is no way suitable ! Keep Torchwood for adults.

As far as deaths are concerned, there is far too much misery in real life. Though Torchwood is dark - there should be limits. Actual character death of the main 5 is not a good idea. Even if your fave character survives, you know you are going to find the dynamics of the Series altered and you may be surprised how much each and every once of the 5 is needed.

If they kill off Jack, or if John Barrowman stops being the star, I will stop watching. If I find Series 3 too different, and too child friendly, I could well stop watching anyway and just record episodes John is in.

Trust the BBC to ruin a wonderful Series. It's always a matter of time before they do, they are incapable of understanding what they make. (How do they ever make good Series - mystery !!).

Maybe a daft question but does anyone know the name of the Cardiff pub that was in last nights programme?? Thanks. Tom

Why are people assuming that the BBC is getting rid of actors rather than the actors wanting to leave?

Barrowman made no secret of his displeasure with the shooting schedule for Series Two.

Burn Gorman is a much in demand actor who's destined to go a lot further than a cult SF show on BBC2.

And Nako Mori gets so little to do I wouldn't be surprised if she quit.

Simon,

Barrowman has also said he wanted to be in Torchwood until at least series five.

I do, however, remember reading an interview with Mori saying she'd like to return to America one day, (and that she was about to before she got the part of Toshiko), but I dunno.

Never believe an actor is leaving a Series voluntarily until they tell you that ten years down the road.

For reasons of diplomacy - the fact they may have to work with each other again - you hardly ever hear if a star is simply being "dismissed" and written out. Of course the BBC would say he wanted to leave - were they getting rid of him - they might want him back or need him for another star role !

John is hardly going to say he was dismissed. Same for the other actors.

So, round and round we go. End is that until about ten years from now we will not know if any of the actors actually wanted to leave.

Me - I want them to continue. I want the edgy and dark Torchwood, but without main character death. Enough death in our lives these days, don't need it in Torchwood thanks.

I certainly do not want what I have heard concerning characters from Dr Who coming in !!!

Pat.
