Takin' Over the Asylum

Right now, at the very second I'm writing this, the first of three new Torchwood radio adventures is about to go out to listeners in the UK. It's called "Asylum" and it's by award winning playwright Anita Sullivan, and stars John, Eve and Gareth - reuniting them with Tom Price as the returning PC Andy Davidson.

The official synopsis:

When PC Andy arrests a teenager for shoplifting, he thinks it is going to be a routine case. Then he sees the weapon she is carrying and decides to call in the Torchwood team. Under questioning from Gwen, the girl remembers her name but little else, and when she speaks it is in a strange mix of English and Scandinavian, but with a Cardiff accent. Then the girl's blood tests come through and the team is faced with a dilemma.

I'm hearing a little time travel is involved...

You can download the episode over the next 7 days on BBC's iPlayer service, and after that it'll be available through iTunes and on CD release sometime over the next few months.

***

Don't forget that the latest issue of Torchwood: The Official Magazine is out now - with previews of Children of Earth, as well as interviews with the cast and crew, and various pieces of original fiction. You can pick it up from all good newsagents, priced £4.99.

I just went to the BBC Radio 4 site via your link. The link is fine. To listen to the show? Sorry, this programme is not available to listen again.
Boo Hiss!

Hey it worked for me... which is surprising, because NOTHING works in my area/country. I live in Suriname, a small country in South America.

Well i hope they can clear up the plot holes such as the future of Torchwood after what happened in series 5 :)

Yeah it was a lame timetravel joke. Anyway they didnt explain what happened to that girl so i hope The Asylum is only part 1 or that she is atleast mentioned later on.

They should have advertised this more though. I only found out about it today.

I'm just about to start listening to it (SO.EXCITED).

Here's the download link for anyone who's interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/torchwood/download/

I can stream and download the episode, and I'm in Canada... which is odd, because iPlayer usually hates me.

I sure hope I get the download to work when I get home. I'm going to do my best to just listen to one a week so I've got a steady stream of Torchwood in my system before CoE on the 20th.

I really enjoyed "Lost Souls" - love the idea of a good old-fashioned radio drama. So cool!!! (They'd never do that here...)

l-o-t - Thanks so much for the link, it worked!!! I was starting to think I was going to have to emigrate to get any good TW action! ;-P

Um J.M. Ferretti, unless you can download them to your computer, you may not be able to hold off listening to them over a long period of time because I think they are only available for 7 days after the broadcast...

Anon - yes, my whole plan depended on the ability to download. Fortunately, at least for 'Asylum', my evil plan has worked, thanks to loads-of-tosh and her handy-dandy link. That's our tosh!

BTW - I don't know if anyone is familiar with a pre-DW project of RTD's with Christopher Eccleston called "Second Coming". I just started watching it last night, and it's brillant!
