According to numerous fan postings around the internet, John Barrowman has said that Torchwood series four is on the way with a full 13 episode season! The actor, who plays Captain Jack, insisted it'll be bigger and better than ever. The good news came out this weekend at Collectormania and was reiterated by Kai Owen's official web group shortly thereafter. Other speculations say that production is slated to begin some time in January. The BBC has not made any official statements on the matter at this time, but in the past they've been the last ones to share the good (or bad) news anyway.
Times are looking good for us Woodies. So I wonder what you readers would love to see in series four. What is top on your Torchwood Christmas wish list?

He, Houdini
I don't know if this is public knowledge yet, or if it is how many people know about it. It might not even be true. I'm just reporting something that has been sent to me by one reader, who's apparently 'in the know' about these things. Only just got the email, having been at work since the afternoon...
In their own words (Can anybody confirm if this is true?):
"Apparently John Barrowman was filming Fifth Gear yesterday and narrowly escaped serious injury when his car rolled over. No one has said anything officially. Just heard about it. Would love to find out if it's true. Captain Jack is really unbeatable! This didn't come from me tho.."
Firstly, if true, John came to no harm whatsoever, so don't worry yourself. Secondly, how much of a real life Captain Scarlet... erm, Harkness even is he?

Anything but exclusive launch details
Barring any last minute delays, Torchwood: Children of Earth launches here in the UK on BBC One on June 15 and runs through that week, ending June 19th.
For a while I've been saying that there's no way the series can begin until the second series of Ashes to Ashes (which started last Monday) has concluded its run. That series is scheduled to end June 8th - and with comments by John Barrowman on the Jonathan Ross Radio 2 show recently - presented by David Tennant and Catherine Tate - that Torchwood airs sometime in June, that leaves either a June 15th, June 22nd or June 29th launch.
Add into the mix that the current issue of Torchwood Magazine, out today, is full of previews for Children of Earth and that its next issue is out June 25th, with a very spoilery interview with Russell T Davies and set reports from the series, including a look at the mysterious 456, one can deduce that the series is expected to have concluded its run by then.
The only way that'd be possible is a June 15th launch - because obviously June 29th is after that new issue is out (so would completely ruin the series a whole week before transmission) and even June 22nd is a bit of a danger area, as subscribers receive copies of their magazines early. June 15th-19th would be fine, and have concluded by the time the magazine is out.
(The case could be made that the series launch could occur June 22nd, and the contents of that new issue only cover the first half of the series - at this point I've chosen the June 15th launch date because it's the most likely. It's 80/20 in its favour)
Also, you have the June 22nd launch of the Blu Ray, to tie in with hype that the series will have gathered by that point, to maximise sales.
People are under the assumption that the schedules are made up on a whim a couple of weeks before transmission. If you know anything about scheduling, you'll know that's simply not true. It's a very complex affair, and programmes are sometimes slotted into schedule a whole year before transmission - look at Doctor Who, with its traditional Christmas Special, and then following Easter series launch. Of course, though it's that complex, changes are still being made here and there, until the day that listings magazines are given the schedules to print (at which point changes are rarely made).
No doubt some readers will attack me online and in the comments section below for making such a guess with regards to series lauch. So what. Go ahead. Do your worst. I'm merely communicating with you what is now a very educated guess, based upon several truths and realities that we know to be fact.

Ghost Watch
Doctor Who Magazine # 370 is released in newsagents across the UK tomorrow, but I've managed to grab a sneak peak, and found some very interesting Torchwood news inside.
As well as commenting upon the casting of Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori, the magazine also exclusively reveals the director of the second block of filming on Torchwood (which consists of just two episodes). This particular block will be completed by Colin Teague, a director who has already headed up some notable episodes of Holby City (along with producer Richard Stokes). We wish Colin all the luck in the world, and here's hoping he produces some incredible episodes!
Colin's two episodes will not contain Noel Clarke's episode like previously thought. Instead, block two will contain a script by Toby Whithouse (Doctor Who - "School Reunion"), as well as script editor Helen Raynor's story, which has the working title of "The Ghost Machine". Now that's what I call an excellent episode title!
Below is an updated episode guide. Any spoilers associated with particular episodes will be printed in invisotext next to the title, so again, DO NOT HIGHLIGHT IF YOU WANT TO STAY SPOILER FREE! Don't say I didn't warn you! Information in brackets is currently awaiting confirmation.

Jack Harkness has returned from the far future, to modern day Cardiff where he's found a job working amongst Torchwood, an ultra secret military organisation. Jack believes that by staying near to the 'Rift' the Doctor will return one day and find him. Whilst investigating some alien gangsters (supposidly) he meets a police woman called Gwen Cooper, and soon Gwen has become part of Torchwood itself, replacing a former Torchwood operative named Suzie who has since gone rogue.
EPISODE TWO - "Dark Revelations (tbc)"
Written by: Chris Chibnall, Directed by: Brian Kelly
Current rumours suggest that during this episode Gwen Cooper's boyfriend learns the secret of Torchwood, and is taken over by a great evil. During the course of the episode Gwen learns exactly what it means to work for a top secret co-government agency.

The fifth wheel?
So who is the mysterious fifth member of the Torchwood team? Well read on if you would like a recap of the speculations that have been circulating. It relates to the finale of WHO.

Tracy-Ann Oberman of Eastenders fame will play a villian named Yvonne Hartman in the final two episodes of WHO this season. Elements of these episodes will lead right into the Torchwood series. In the Express newspaper last month Oberman said she will be playing the head of the Torchwood Institute. The speculation is that she will be in charge of a London-based Torchwood who has gone a bit astray, in league with the Cybermen and such.
None of the location reports last week spotted Oberman, so it might be a case of her exit/death leaving a spot for Jack to come in and head up a new reformed Torchwood Institute now based in Cardiff. If you are in Cardiff it looks like you will have a few chances to see the team on the streets in their range rover and look for more clues this week. A few shooting spots that have been mentioned are at the The Hayes, City Centre on Monday and then wednesday evening in the Pen and Wig pub.
No Torchwood references in The Girl in the Fireplace. The commentary features the writer of the episode Steven Moffat and Torchwood writer Noel Clarke, who is now better known as The Tin Dog.

Her Royal Majesty's Torchwood

As previously reported, tonight's episode took part mostly in a castle called Torchwood House in Scotland. At the end of the adventure Queen Victoria announced the foundation of the Torchwood organization. She said they will act as investigators of extra-terrestrial phenomonen and other threats outside the norm. They will also monitor for a return of the Doctor.
This appears to be where we find the distinction between UNIT and Torchwood, the former works within the United Nations framework, the latter is funded and directed by the House of Windsor.
Also, according to IMDB but denied by everybody else, John Barrowman will be appearing in the last two episodes of WHO this season. The two-part season finale will supposedly have story elements that lead right into Torchwood so we might not have to wait until October to see Captain Jack again afterall.

Torchisodes Coming
Well it's a better name than Tardisode anyway. According to somebody in the OG forums, Torchwood will get the same treatment as Doctor Who with minute-long weekly previews that you can watch on the web or on your cell phone as the show airs. They will also be wrtten by Gareth Roberts. This has not yet been confirmed by anybody else.

(As if anybody bothering to read this page would normally be watching snooker saturday nights) It's bound to be an improvement on New Earth, after all you can't go wrong when you put Queen Victoria together with a werewolf and flying Shaolin warriors. Throw in her servant John Brown and you have a classic.

The Music Man
Barrowman Online user Fitch has recently created a rather exciting mock theme tune for Torchwood. Keeping with the anagram theme of Torchwood (re-arrange the letters and you get the name of the parent show Doctor Who) Fitch has used the existing Doctor Who theme, and put his own unique twist on the sounds to create his Torchwood theme.

The First Sighting?!?
Here's a photo from BBC 3's recent Doctor Who Confidential special. Notice the army officer in the background. They're wearing a cap without the usual (for Doctor Who anyway) UNIT logo on it. Mysteriously it also has a letter T on top. Could this be a Torchwood soldier? Is this our first sighting of a Torchwood operative? I guess we'll find out when that particular episode, Army of Ghosts/Doomsday airs in July. Anyway, lets hear your theories...
A 51st Century Guy
I was lucky enough to see a three minute preview of Doctor Who season two last night on BBCi, and stumbled across some interesting findings along the way... 
A 51ST CENTURY SPACESHIP
In the episode 'The Girl in the Fireplace' the Tenth Doctor, Rose and Mickey meet Madame Du Pompadour, the King of France's mistress, who's being stalked by beings from the 51st Century. The beings want Pompadour for some (yet) unknown reasons. They send killer clockwork androids to hunt her down...and that's where the trouble begins.
Anyway, what's interesting is the fact that this ship is from the 51st century. It's established throughout series one that Jack Harkness is a '51st Century kind of guy'. We know that Jack does not appear in season two, but does this ship have something to do with him still? Is it part of the Agency that Jack worked for during his two missing years? Is it an old friend of Jack's that we've never met before? And does it in anyway tie in with Jack's future on Torchwood? We'll see.
The episode in question, The Girl In The Fireplace, airs at 7PM on BBC 1 May 6th. Don't dare miss it. I have a feeling another piece of the jigsaw will soon fit into place...

Church Bulletin
Of course long time readers know I started this site so I could talk about Charlotte Church on a daily basis. Imagine my disappointment when RTD said back in November that she would not be in Torchwood! Well just as I was about to get over it, the news from Wales on Sunday comes out today that "he would love her" to be in WHO or Torchwood and that as far as a cameo or small role is concerned, the ball is in her court.

However there is bad news for all you Jordan fans out there, Russell says he will definitely not be letting her anywhere near The Hub as the tabloids had reported back in December. Plus RTD said that for those of you who had been already lining up at your local cineplex in hope of a WHO movie, it's going to be a very long wait.
In another article released yesterday, (April Fool's Day) I learned that WHO is coming here to my neck of the woods, the Seattle area! According to this report Bill Gates will be out on Lake Washington in an episode and abducted by aliens. A clever article, but quite obviously a put-on. Of course we all know, if Gates were abducted, the Doctor and the other powers that be would say, "enjoy the trip."

New and improved
During this slow news week, I couldn't think of much else to do besides spruce this place up a bit. So I thought that a new look on Torchwood.TV might distract from the fact we don't have any decent new content.

Sort of a misleading headline though, there is little improved about the site that I can think of. It will feature all the same witty commentary you know and love just in a different package. There is one small addition of a Tagboard where you can quickly post any thoughts you may have on Torchwood or fill us in on the dreams you have had involving Eve Myles.
Today there is word over at the OG forum of a recurring character on the show who somebody called Yekcim. More as it breaks, also stay tuned soon for news on the remaining mystery Torchwood writers.

So, It's April Then?!?
Some quick rumblings from Cardiff have just hit my inbox, rumblings that seem to match common whisperings about Torchwood filming. My source at BBC Wales today e-mailed me with the following message regarding the start date for the new season of Doctor Who. I think you'll like what he says:
"The BBC chiefs here in Cardiff are putting some final touches to their grand Doctor Who advertising campaign (and I can tell you now, if you think Eccleston was good in last year's trailers, you ain't seen nothing yet!) and I was lucky (i.e sneaky) enough to see a preliminary schedule for the production team in April. The series is set for an April 15th launch, although the document makes clear that this date can change at any point between now and March 25th. Russell, David, Billie and Noel are all making press interviews leading up to this date, and therefore Russell meets with John, Eve, et al to begin production on Torchwood April 23rd (although I don't know if this is filming or cast read throughs). That's if all goes to plan. Anyways, I'm writing on my laptop on the way home now, and I'm quite excited! As always, you didn't here this from me."

Erm...It Might Not Be 2006 After All
The latest issue of SFX magazine, out next week in News stands across Britain, reveals some interesting Torchwood news: the show may "do a 'Life On Mars'" and debut on BBC One next January, in the first week or so after the New Year. The magazine also hints that the spin-off could be paired up with Life On Mars on Monday nights to form a "Sci-Fi block". Hmm, interesting.
Monday nights in Britain usually see some low-brow ITV 'drama premeire', and except for the likes of Spooks (which now airs on Thursdays) and Life On Mars, BBC's Monday night output really doesn't have a lot going for it. Also, the high rated Coronation Street has a full two episodes airing on Monday nights. The greedy things. This probably explains why the BBC performs so badly in the ratings. Could Torchwood, a high profile spin-off, make all the difference?
Of note too is johnbarrowman.net. Olga (JB's dancing partner on Dancing On Ice) has a question and answer session now online, and in it one fan asks: "Has anyone suggested a cameo role in Torchwood?" Olga's answer to this is very very interesting : "That sounds a great idea , I would love to do such a thing , maybe I could be the Russian spy , I think my accent would suit the role!!! "
Does Olga have inside information off of JB? Is there a Russian Spy? Was it meant as a joke? Surely they'd never give Olga an acting role?!?
Now that would be worth seeing!

SFX Appeal
Torchwood news is thin on the ground again today so I'm going to post this story which (despite being a few months old!) is quite funny, and is also very fascinating to read. British publication SFX magazine run a column "wish list" where every month readers comment on one television show, or film, and what they'd like to see in it. In issue#140 it was Torchwood's turn.

The Valley Of Death?
I had intended on posting this news yesterday, but the internet at home was down, so...damn.
As resident tv.com Torchwood editor here at Torchwood.TV I recently received an e-mail from a 'source' at that site informing me that the working title for Torchwood's first episode is "The Valley Of Death." I have absolutely no idea where this member received this information, so for now I advise readers to take it with a large dose of salt. Security must be very, very high on this script, and I doubt that the production team would let any Tom, Dick or Harry peek at it. Also, as far as I know, Cardiff (the home of Torchwood) doesn't have any valleys, so wouldn't it be hard for it to have a "Valley of Death?" Expect an official announcement on the episode title in a future issue of Doctor Who Magazine.
During recent press coverage the website kasterborous.com was nice enough to give Torchwood.TV a mention as one of its sources, calling us "another good blog." Well, Anthony Dry and Christian Cawley (kasterborous webmasters) we like your site too! It's great to have friends on other sites, and myself and Kurly look forward to working with yourselves in the near future. In the meantime, keep up the hard work!
That's all the news I have for today (it's been a quiet day, with all the focus being on Barbara Windsor's casting in Doctor Who). Torchwood Overload (What A Fantastic Way To Celebrate 100 Posts!)
We've reached a milestone; here we are - still going strong after 100 posts.
Kurly we all owe you so much. This little website which you founded months ago is quickly becoming the web-community for Woodies everywhere, and on behalf of everyone I have one thing to say:

We've got a lot of new information, so here goes:
Gwen's full name is Gwen Cooper, suggesting that Myles isn't playing the same role she played on "Doctor Who". Here's what Eve Myles thinks of playing the role of Gwen Cooper, "I'm thrilled to be playing the part of Gwen. To get the chance to do a 13-part series under the watchful pen of Russell is amazing," says Eve, "It's such a compliment to have been chosen for the part - I can't wait. I'm also looking forward to working with John. It'll be the perfect opportunity for the both of us to show everyone what we've got."
Russell. T. Davies says, "I've admired Eve's work for years, and when she was able to guest-star in Doctor Who last year, it just confirmed to me that she was one of Wales's best-kept secrets. The part of Gwen in Torchwood was written specially for her - so it's a good thing she said yes! Eve and John Barrowman have already met up, and the combination is going to be electrifying."
Meanwhile our old friend John Barrowman confesses:"I'm really looking forward to working with Eve. We've had a good laugh on the occasions we've met and the fact that she's already been in Doctor Who means she knows what she's getting into."
Head of BBC Wales Drama, Julie Gardner, says: "We are delighted to announce the casting of Eve Myles in the central role of Gwen, alongside John Barrowman's Captain Jack in Torchwood. Eve is an intelligent and versatile actress, who has done exceptional work in a number of BBC dramas, including our local series Belonging."
Our little nuggets of information revealled during the BBC press release include:
+Toby Whithouse (writer of the Doctor Who episode "School Reunion") is set to write one episode of the new series.
+Chris Chibnall seems to be contributing more than we originally thought. In the BBC press release he's not listed as a 'contributor', but with RTD as one of the show's main writers. Does this mean he's writing multiple episodes, or is this simply a typo?
+The show's new producer is Richard Stokes (a past producer on British soaps Holby City and Eastenders). He replaces James Hawes, who has been forced to drop out after the filming shedule moved from early 2006 to around April/May.
So much new information, so little time to process it all! If anymore information is released through the day you can bet myself and Kurly will be on the front line to receive it...

The Countdown Begins Here Folks...
A couple of my sources in Cardiff have revealled some interesting news regarding both "Doctor Who" Season Two, and "Torchwood", both of which (I'm sure you'll agree) sound very very promising indeed!
+Doctor Who Season Two
A lot of this season finale ("Army Of Ghosts"/"Doomsday") has already been recorded, in September - January, but a lot of its scenes were recorded with a skeleton crew, suggesting that something happens in these scenes that the BBC want to keep secret (I doubt its Jack's return, because Barrowman has been busy during this period). Perhaps Miss Piper finally leaves the show...paving way for a guest appearence in Torchwood...?

Rumour has it that when the BBC begin publicity for the new series of Doctor Who in March, they'll release a pree release for "Torchwood" to try and capture some of Doctor Who attention. The rumours suggest that this press release will finally announce the casting of Gwen, as well as Jack's two other companions, as well as several of the other writers, ahead of the start of principle photography in April. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...But if any news is announced, you can bet Torchwoodtv will be amongst the first to report it!
Oh, and btw, its almost our 100th post here...Who's betting that Kurly has something nice to celebrate with?

The Man From UNIT?
The big question that everyone's asking lately is "how much will Torchwood be like U.N.I.T?" Alright, except that lonely guy in the corner, it's not a massively popular question, but still, it raises an interesting idea.
Pam won a signed copy of Barrowman's "Barrowman Sings Cole Porter" CD for her efforts (the lucky thing!). Now, John - if you're reading this (and I'm sure you are dude!) - then surely your two fave torchwoodtv writers deserve signed CD's soon too...?
Can Torchwood escape the shadows of U.N.I.T?
Early indications show that RTD has planned a dark atmospheric military-type group, who give no second thoughts to sleeping with their comrads. We have no bumbling Sgt. Benton figure here, or even romantic Mike Yates. Torchwood will feature dirty characters, with dark histories and tortured souls. Unlike our friends in UNIT, these characters are not loveable rogues. From what we know so far, they're anything but.
When the facts do begin leaking from production I'm sure it will become obvious that these characters are almost anti-heroes. Jack Harkness will be our own 21st Century hero. He represent everything that modern heroes should - and should throw Torchwood the series firmly into the year 2006 with a bang.
But wouldn't it be a shame if he couldn't escape the past, and Doctor Who fans condemned him to death for being too similiar to UNIT? I hope that day never comes - because Torchwood is after all it's own show, with it's own mythology. It can escape Doctor Who's past and establish itself in audience's hearts.
I know it can.

April in Cardiff
The wait for 2006 is over. However, the wait for Torchwood is just starting. John Barrowman said on the BBC 1's New Year's Eve coverage that filming for the program will begin in April, with the first broadcast in the Fall.

These are of course roughly the dates we had been expecting, but it obviously would have been nice if he had revealed that they will be ready to shoot in just a few weeks! So I hope your New Year's resolution was to have more patience. Your going to need it, if your planning on reading through all the filler on this page for the next few months.
